Machala & Sharon, co-founders of Fight My Corner
Fight My Corner exists because of three councils, one relentless sister, and the hardest years of our lives.
Our co-founder Machala spent years fighting three local councils. What started as a dispute became a battle that took everything — her time, her energy, her peace. In the middle of it, she lost her mum. She was broken in a way that goes beyond tired. There were points where she wanted to stop. Where the cost of continuing felt higher than anything she might win.
Her sister wouldn't let her.
She's always been the one in the family who picks up the phone when no one else will. Who reads the letter they sent and finds the flaw in it. Who knows instinctively that staying quiet costs more than speaking up. When Machala couldn't fight any more, her sister made the calls. Kept pursuing it. Kept saying: you're owed this. Don't stop.
They won. Compensation from all three councils.
But what stayed with Machala wasn't the win. It was this: not everyone has a sister like that. Most people, when they hit that wall — the hold music, the automated replies, the complaint forms that disappear into nothing — they give up. Because fighting alone, when you're already worn down by life, is too much to ask of anyone.
Fight My Corner is the sister most people don't have. The one who reads their small print. Writes the letter. And doesn't let you give up before you get what you're owed.
We built this because we've lived the worst version of this fight. We know what it costs. And we know what winning feels like on the other side.
